Why We Plant Trees as We Welcome New Clients

Damir Grubisa explains Group 4 Networks' Evertreen tree-planting initiative, how it connects with client onboarding and why transparent reporting matters.

By Damir Grubisa, CEO of Group 4 Networks ยท Executive perspective

A new relationship is an opportunity to do something positive

When a business chooses Group 4 Networks, it is trusting us with technology that matters to its people and its future. I want the beginning of that relationship to include something positive beyond the IT work itself. That is why we partnered with Evertreen to fund tree planting as we onboard new clients.

Why this belongs alongside our work

Our day-to-day focus remains practical: dependable IT, stronger cybersecurity and useful AI. A tree-planting initiative does not replace any of those responsibilities. It is a separate commitment that reflects how I want us to grow as a Toronto business. We can take our service obligations seriously while also supporting something beyond our immediate operations.

What the partnership means

Group 4 Networks funds trees through Evertreen. Our public forest profile identifies the company and the projects it supports. The profile gives clients somewhere to look beyond a statement on our own website. We are describing this as a Group 4 Networks initiative, not promising a fixed number of trees for every product purchase or every enquiry across our specialist sites.

A small start, reported honestly

On September 15, 2026, our Evertreen profile listed 10 trees funded, including four gifted, across six countries. That is a dated snapshot, not a live counter. I would rather show a modest, verifiable beginning than make a larger claim we cannot support. The public profile is the place to check the latest figures and project information.

What we are not claiming

Funding trees does not make our services carbon-neutral, cancel the footprint of AI or cloud computing, or prove that trees are planted in Toronto. Evertreen's carbon figures involve estimates over time, so I am not presenting them as emissions already eliminated by our business. We will keep our language tied to what the evidence actually shows.

Growing the relationship, not changing the promise

For clients, our core promise is still the quality of the work: clear communication, responsible technology decisions and support that fits the organization. The forest is an additional part of our story. As the initiative develops, I want to share meaningful progress with the same straightforward approach we bring to conversations about IT and cybersecurity.
